Maternity Photoshoot in Bhilai — When to Do It, Where, and What It Costs
We get asked about maternity shoots almost every week now — it’s become one of the most common calls we take at the studio. And honestly, it’s one of our favourite kinds of shoots to do. So we thought we’d put together everything couples usually ask us, in one place.
First things first — when should you do it?
Most people assume “later is better,” but that’s not quite true. The sweet spot is your 7th to 8th month. The bump has that nice full shape by then, and you’re still comfortable enough to stand, walk around a bit, and try a few different poses without getting tired too fast.
We’d honestly steer you away from the 9th month if you can help it. Not because it “won’t look good” — it’s just that most moms-to-be are exhausted by then, and travelling to an outdoor spot or standing for a studio session isn’t much fun at that stage. Give yourself that extra few weeks of buffer.
Studio or outdoors — which one should you pick?
Honestly, both work. It depends on what kind of photos you’re picturing in your head.
If you want that soft, warm, portrait-style look — fabric drapes, controlled light, nothing left to chance with the weather — go with the studio. It’s also just more comfortable if you’d rather not have random people around while you’re posing.
If you like the idea of natural light and a bit of a story to the photos — maybe walking through a garden, your partner’s hand on your bump, that kind of candid moment — outdoors works better. We’ve shot at a few nice spots around Bhilai and Durg that photograph really well in early morning or evening light.
A lot of our clients actually end up doing a bit of both — a studio set plus a short outdoor session on the same day. Works out nicely if you want variety without doing two separate shoots.
What to wear (this one gets asked a LOT)
- Flowy dresses or gowns in solid colours or soft pastels photograph the best. Busy prints tend to pull focus away from the bump rather than complementing it.
- Bring at least two outfits — one fitted, so the bump actually shows, and one loose/flowy for a softer look.
- Don’t stress too much about footwear. Most of our poses work fine barefoot anyway.
- If your husband’s joining in for a few frames, we’d suggest complementary colours rather than matching outfits — looks more natural in photos than “matchy-matchy.”
What’s actually in the package
This is where it gets a little case-by-case, honestly. Whether you go studio-only or add an outdoor session, how many edited photos you want, whether you want a printed album — all of that changes the price. Rather than throw a number here that may not apply to you, it’s easier if you check our maternity package page or just message us directly and we’ll walk you through what fits your budget.

Questions we hear a lot
Can my husband/family be in a few photos too?
es, that’s pretty standard — most sessions include a few couple or family frames along with your solo shots.
How long does the shoot actually take?
Usually about 1.5–2 hours, give or take, depending on how many outfits and locations you want to cover.
When do we get the final photos?
We’ll give you a clear timeline when you book — it depends a bit on the season and how many shoots we have lined up.
If you’re expecting and thinking about getting this done, don’t wait till the last minute, the good slots (and the good light) fill up fast closer to festival season. Get in touch and we’ll help you pick the right time and package.
